WATER BOTTLE ROCKETS AT ROBBINS FARM PARK!

WHEN: Sunday, October 6th from 10am - 12pm
WHERE: Robbins Farm Park

The PTO Committee on STEM Enrichment would like to announce the annual launch of water bottle rockets in Robbins Farm Park.   You can make your own water bottle rocket ahead of time (see attachment for instructions) or bring your supplies and make it on site. Don't forget to bring some water to use as fuel.  We also recommend you consider wearing a bicycle or other helmet in case your rocket (or someone else's) homes in too closely on it's way back to earth.

Check out these videos from a previous launch - from the perspective of a camera attached in various strategic places, including on a rocket itself!

PICTURE DAY IS MONDAY, OCTOBER 7th

Order forms went home in backpacks. If you'd like to order online, visit: www.haywardphotography.com and use Brackett School code: BRAC19

A big THANK YOU to PTO parents Katherine Gates and Julia Matthews for researching and vetting our new picture day vendor, Hayward Photography, based out of Milton, Massachusetts.

A couple reasons why Hayward Photography was chosen:
- Every student will get a free class picture and a digital proof of their picture
- Families can order photos online - or - with a form before picture day
- Photos will be additionally be available for purchase through their website. (Photos purchased  after picture day will be offered at a slightly higher price.)
- They will do their best to take pictures outdoors. (Only in extreme conditions will photos be taken indoors.)
- They will provide photos before Thanksgiving. (The previous vendor delivered photos after Thanksgiving.)
- They hire experienced photographers who are trained to work specifically with children.

RAINBOW ALLIANCE CLUB & BRACKETT LGBTQ+ LIAISON

Dear Brackett Community,

I would like to introduce myself to you as a 4th grade teacher and as the Staff Liaison for LGBTQ+ Families. My contact information is on the Brackett website and I am available through email. Ms. Zerchykov and I will host a fall (in October) and spring potluck for LGBTQ+ families and friends. All are welcome!

In addition, I run The Rainbow Alliance. It is an afterschool club for upper elementary students in grades 3, 4,and 5. It is a way to support the diversity of students, specifically those from LGBTQ+ families and any student interested in being an ally. Notices go home inviting students to join the club. There are six club meetings this trimester: Oct 21,29, Nov 4, 18, 25, and Dec 2.

All best,

AnitaCristina Calcaterra

Where: Arlington Senior Center, 27 Maple Street

Featuring a Performance by True Story Theatre

The parent-led Diversity and Inclusion Groups of the Arlington Public Schools (APS) invites all families to a Potluck and Meet & Greet. The DIGs mission is to support the diversity of our families and advance equity and inclusion in the APS. We work in collaboration with school administrators toward making our schools safe and welcoming learning spaces for all our children and their families, inclusive of all identities. We believe this work will prepare our children to be successful in an increasingly diverse world.

All are welcome to this family friendly event. If you feel inclined, please bring any food or dish that
is significant to your family’s culture.

True Story Theater of Arlington will provide a short participatory improvisational skit at 6:45 PM.
Space is limited, please RSVP on Facebook or email gibbsottosondig@gmail.com.
We look forward to celebrating with you.
