Have your children been talking about the "Golden Lunchbox"?
 
The Golden Lunchbox, like the Golden Sneaker in gym class, or the Golden Note in music class, is awarded each month to the grade in the lunchroom who collectively has done the best at 1) limiting their garbage 2) being neat when sorting their left-overs, and 3) behaving respectfully in the cafeteria.
 
The First Graders were thrilled to be the first recipients in November.  And the Kingergarten classrooms are award winners for December!
 
Presentation on the Common Core Curriculum for Brackett Parents

Guest speaker Dr. Laura Chesson will speak to parents and answer question regarding the Common Core Curriculum and the top two Arlington Public Schools initiatives at the February PTO meeting. All parents are invited  to attend.
 
KidZone Registration Open:  After School Classes begin week of Feb 25th

Arlington Community Education is pleased to announce registration for spring KidZone classes. KidZone is an after-school enrichment program for grades K-5 that meets in Arlington elementary schools.

Spring term begins the week of February 25. Registration begins today and ends February 22 and can be done online or by mail. Some classes will fill quickly.

Find the KidZone catalog/registration form attached or at http://www.arlingtoncommunityed.org/youthprograms.html. Please check your child's backpack for an abbreviated catalog.

SCHOOL REPORT CARD

This message is provide you with your school's "2012 Report Card".  Report cards for each school have been posted on the Arlington Public Schools' website, along with an explanatory letter from each Principal. You will notice that this year's school report card format differs from prior years' format, as Massachusetts sought and received a waiver from the federal No Child Left Behind law. Massachusetts public schools are now measured by Massachusetts' Progress and Performance Index (PPI).
