Fall Box Tops for Education Drive - Every 10 Box Tops earns Brackett School $1!

It's time to gather all those box tops you've been saving and turn them in to the Box Top drawer, which is located in the school lobby (in the top drawer next to the bookcase and water fountain). The Fall deadline is Friday, 10/21. If you are new to the community, Box Tops for Education offers FREE money to our school just for sending in the small rectangles found on products you probably use every day.

The process is simple-- clip Box Top labels from products (listing on website http://www.boxtops4education.com/how-box-tops-works ), tape them on to the collection sheet and place them in the collection drawer in the school's front lobby. We will count them and send them into General Mills. Each Box Top is worth 10 cents. This really adds up if we all collect and submit them! Brackett uses this money for field trips and enrichment, so start clipping today!

** Theme Sheets add to the FUN!  Just like last year, families can tape Box Tops to the either of these 2 Fall-themed collection sheets (set of 10) or (set of 25), or affix sets of 10 to your own scrap paper with tape or glue (no staples please).

Thank you for participating in this fun and easy fundraiser for Brackett!!  -Kate Riley

REMINDER: Please Sign up online for the Brackett Directory by 10/12!

Please Sign up online for the Brackett Directory, a significant number of families have not yet registered! The Brackett School Directory is published by PTO volunteers every year, and every Brackett family gets a copy. Most families choose to participate, so it's a great resource for planning playdates and parties. Your family's information will only appear in the directory if you sign up, and even if you've signed up in previous years, you still need to sign up this year by 10/12, by clicking the link below.

How to Sign Up:
Visit https://www.arlington.k12.ma.us/pto_directory/ and follow the login instructions.

To be included in the directory you must enter "Brackett", your child’s "grade" & "teacher". Please update:
1. Parent and guardian information: make any changes and click save at the bottom.
2. Children information: make a selection for school, grade, and teacher for each student. Click save when you are done. Use the orange menu at the top of the page to navigate.

You will receive a confirmation email after you have completed these steps, which will indicate that you are connected to your student's corresponding school, grade, and classroom email lists.

Thank you for taking a few minutes to ensure your student is included in the Brackett School Directory!

****If you have a business that you would like to advertise in the directory, please let us know.  It's a wonderful opportunity to help out Brackett and our kids at the same time as promoting your business.

If you have any questions, please contact Danna Rosenberg: rosenberg.danna@gmail.com, Karen Yi: almostsundaydesigns@gmail.com, or Karen Gold: karen.gold@gmail.com

Thank you GIG/Art Squad! Gas Leak Flag Marking event was a great success!!

Thank you students and families who helped raise awareness of the 177 gas leaks in Arlington last week through the The Brackett Green Initiatives Group (GIG) and Art Squad co-led event!  Last Friday 15 students met in the Brackett Art Room, discussed gas leaks, how flags can draw attention, and then created their own Yellow Gas Leak marking flags. The group produced 60(!) flags which families used to tag sites in the Brackett district and all around Arlington on Saturday following a Gas Leak Rally at Arlington Town Hall.

The town-wide Gas Leak event was organized by Sustainable Arlington and Mothers Out Front.  To learn more about how we and our soil, trees, and air bear the costs of gas leaks, and to see the Google Map view of the leaks, go to: http://sustainablearlington.org/glc

Stay tuned to hear more about upcoming GIG events!
