WATER BOTTLE ROCKETS AT ROBBINS FARM PARK!

WHEN: Saturday, October 15th from 10 am -12 pm
WHERE: Robbins Farm Park

The STEM Enrichment committee would like to announce the annual launch of water bottle rockets in Robbins Farm Park.  We will be using our new rocket launchers, which were purchased for the school by Brackett parents Sanjay Vakil and Naoka Carey. Next time you see Sanjay or Naoka, please thank them for this awesome donation!

You can make your own water bottle rocket ahead of time (see attachment for instructions) or bring your supplies and make it on site. Don't forget to bring some water to use as fuel.  We also recommend you consider wearing a bicycle or other helmet in case your rocket (or someone else's) homes in too closely on its way back to earth.

Check out these videos from a previous launch - from the perspective of a camera attached in various strategic places, including on a rocket itself!

2016-2018 School Council Parent Representative
Request for Candidates

The School Council is looking for a Parent Representative for the 2016-2018 School Council season.  This person will also act as the Recording Secretary.

What does the School Council do? School Council members meet once a month to discuss issues of policy, procedure, and improvement for our school. It is made up of the principal and voluntary teacher, parent, PTO, and community representatives. The School Council is a separate entity from the PTO.

Under Massachusetts state law, school councils assist principals in these four primary areas:
  1. Adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards
  2. Identifying the educational needs of students attending the school
  3. Reviewing the annual school building budget
  4. Formulating a school improvement plan
If you are interested in submitting your name as a candidate for the School Council Parent Representative position, please email Karen Fuhrman (fuhrmank35@gmail.com) or Catherine Fenollosa (cfenollosa@gmail.com) with a brief bio. For more information, contact Karen or Catherine or visit:

Get in the Halloween Spirit:  Join us at Spooky Walk 10/29!

Please join us for Spooky Walk at ‪Menotomy Rocks Park  Saturday, 10/29 from 6:30-8:00pm. It’s a great way to get into the Halloween spirit and test drive those costumes!  Hundreds of children, mummies and deadies attend and are delighted by Spooky Walk's creative and creepy displays, costumes and decorations each year.  Flashlights/glow sticks recommended and the walk is usually okay for the less fearsome young students, too!

For those who have enjoyed it for years, please pay it forward. We’re looking for 4th-8th grade and adult volunteers to dress up or create a “spooky station” for the little ones to enjoy. For more information, email kelleydamoreferguson@gmail.com
