Walk to School Day RESULTS!
On Wednesday, October 15, Brackett took part in the International Walk to School Day Event. With the generous help of students from Grades 3 to 5 we were able to tabulate how children arrived at school the Tuesday and Wednesday of last week, and handed out Internationally flagged pencils for participants.
Approximately 150 to 200 students or a third to almost of half of Brackett students participated in the survey. The survey results show walking was by far the most used mode of transportation with students walking to school by either a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. To learn more, check out photos and additional information on the Brackett website (http://brackettelementary.org).
We could not have run the survey and reached out to the arriving students without the help of: Francesca DeVito, Rachel Barglow, Gemma Conway, Tess O'Shaughnessy, Mila Popovic, Faer Fitzsimmons, Maya Qazilbash, Mari Woolf, Anna Horvak, and Maya Varoglu. In addition the donationof pencils was courtesy of Susan Valenti DeVito and the PTO.
Even as the weather cools we encourage students to keep walking to Brackett for a little extra exercise, fresh air, and the opportunity to experience our great neighbors and neighborhoods.
Thanks to all who helped, and all who participated in the survey.
