Art Friday 10/27, (Art Matters Day) featuring Paste Paper

Come to our first ART FRIDAY of the year tomorrow to Make Paste Paper, to use for collages inspired by Eric Carle.   Get creative with this fun hands-on activity and celebrate Art Matters Day with your friends at Art Squad!  Meet at 2:30pm in the Art Room.

Art Days are open to everyone at Brackett.  Younger students should be accompanied by a parent or care giver.  We are not a drop-off program, instead students are free to come and go as they finish their projects.  If your student is in BASP, be sure to let them (and your child) know that they can attend Art Days this year.

Volunteer: We still have spots open on Art Squad for projects big and small and would love to have a few more parent volunteers, especially for our huge Art Show this Spring!  If you have any questions or are interested the PTO Art Squad, please let us know via email at: carolynn.vincent@gmail.com

Reminder: Culture and Creativity Night, Fri. 11/3

Please join the Brackett Community for our first Culture and Creativity Night, Friday, 11/3 from 6-8pm. It's a chance to share the diverse school community we have and to learn where we all come from, be it a new arrival or perhaps your family has been here for many generations!

The sign-up genius is brimming with volunteers to host country tables (20 Tables signed up to date!).  We could still use a few more country tables, and several more volunteers to share a food dish, craft, music or STEM leader from your country/ culture, and/or set-up and clean-up after. Multiple families may host a table together. Host tables can include a poster board with a picture of the country flag, information about the geography, population, music, sports, food, traditional wear... whatever you want to share!

To sign up to host a table, make/donate food, or host a craft, please sign up here:

Curious about what a host table looks like, see the photos above. Questions? Contact 4th Grade Teacher Nicole Schwartz at nschwartz@arlington.k12.ma.us

Thanks to all who have signed up, and please mark the date for 2 weeks from tomorrow to join the learning and fun!

Dr. Nora Shine present "The Privates Rule" 11/7

You are invited to see Dr. Nora Shine's presentation "The Privates Rule" on Tuesday, November 7, 7:00 - 8:30 pm at the Ottoson Middle School  Cafeteria, 63 Acton Street
.

This powerful talk focuses on how you think about keeping kids safe from sexual abuse, and will leave you feeling informed, empowered, and eager to use the strategies outlined in her presentation.

Drawing on her experience as a child psychologist, and mother of two young children, Dr Shine will present research-driven, realistic strategies that parents and educators can readily use.

This event is coordinated by the Arlington Parent Forum, and  attached is more detailed information.

Brackett 2nd Annual Kindergarten Bedtime Story Hour was a Success!

Kindergarteners joined their friends for a fun night time event in the library!

Decked out in their PJs and slippers, our friends cuddled with their blankets and stuffed animals while they listened to several books, including some Halloween themed stories like “Big Pumpkin” by Erica Silverman and “Room on the Broom” by Julia Donaldson. A fun time was had by all!

Want to hear about library news? Interested in sharing ideas for other fun events? Please email friendsofbrackettlibrary@gmail.com and get on our mailing list.
