NOVEMBER PTO COFFEE/TEA MEETING: Friday, Nov. 13th 8:15 a.m.-9:00 am in Cafeteria

The PTO will be hosting a morning social coffee/tea in the Brackett cafeteria on Friday morning, November 13th from 8:15 a.m.-9:00 a.m. This meeting will be a meet and greet style and we hope you can stop by early, even 5 minutes to just say hello and meet new friends.  The PTO currently does not have Co-Presidents and a few parents are helping in the interim to keep things running smoothly. We are so fortunate that our PTO has a committee based structure and those volunteers are dedicated and working hard behind the scenes to bring you monthly events.

REMINDER: Brackett Bank Opening Soon!
The Brackett School Savings Bank will be opening for the 30th year!

We will open for grade 1 only on Friday, October 30.  Starting Friday, November 6, the bank will be open for all grades.  The bank will be held in the cafeteria on Fridaymornings between 8:30 and 9:30 throughout the school year.  Students in grade 1 will receive information about the bank and how to open an account.  If you are new to the school or have not participated in the past, please come by to set up an account.  This is a great opportunity for our children to learn about saving their money.

If you have any questions about Brackett Bank or are interested in becoming a parent volunteer at the bank, please contact Patty Chookhae-Kragh at 617-407-9971 orbrackettbank@gmail.com.

WE FOUND ONE PARENT TO HELP RUN THE ANNUAL BRACKETT BOOK FAIR - DON'T LEAVE HER HIGH AND DRY!

Deborah DosSantos and I have been running the Brackett Book Fair the last several years but since our boys are both in 5th grade, this is our last year!  We are looking for at least 1 more parent to help take over this wonderful event.  For those of you not familiar with the Book Fair, it's a fantastic week of partnering with Book Ends in Winchester where we turn the Brackett Library into a book store!  The students all buy books during their library times at school and we hold a parent shopping night during that week as well.  The Fair is scheduled for the week of Nov. 16th, with the shopping night scheduled forThursday, Nov. 19.  Ideally we would like parents who are interested to get involved fairly soon so that we can show them the ropes and have them help as much as possible so they have a solid foundation for taking over next year.  We have one parent of a kindergartner who is interested and she'd love a partner-in-crime!  This is a really fun event that is one of the largest fundraisers for the PTO.  If you would like to learn more, please contact me at:  gettoyoung@comcast.net or call me at 781-646-4841.  Thanks for your interest and support!  Christie Getto Young
Save the Date and Volunteer - 5th Grade Movie Night Fundraiser - November 20

Join us to help support the 5th Grade Graduation Fund with the first fundraiser of the year - Movie Night featuring Tommorowland (voted on by our 5th graders) taking place at Brackett on Friday, November 20.

Fifth Grade Parents, please consider volunteering to help out. You can sign up here:

COATS FOR KIDS
Brackett is collecting winter coats for kids (& adults).  Please bring your no-longer-needed gently used winter coats to the front lobby to deposit into the collection box.  They are then taken to Anton Cleaners where they are cleaned and then distributed to those in need.  Please bring only winter coats (no hats, gloves, scarves, light jackets, or boots.  They won't take them.  Snowsuits OK), and only those that you would have your own children wear.  No rips, tears, or broken zippers.

We've been one of the top donators in Arlington Schools!  So please, check your closets, try them on, and send your spares to school!

Arlington Children's Theatre Upcoming Production: The Witches

Please join us to see the Arlington Children's Theatre's and Arlington Center for the Arts' production of Roald Dahl's classic, The Witches.  Performed by 29 local actors ages 7-12 and appropriate for the youngest theater-goers, The Witches is brimming with the wit and imagination that have made Roald Dahl’s books so immensely popular with children to this day. The Witches tells the story of how a Boy and his Grandmother thwart the plans of the Grand High Witch and her followers to turn all the children of England into mice! Performances are at the Arlington Center for the Arts at 41 Foster St., Arlington, MA 02474.  Tickets are $10 at the door or online at https://act.arlington.ma.us/shows/index.html on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7PMSaturday, Nov. 7 at 7PM, and Sunday, Nov. 8 at 2PM.  If you have questions, contact Christie Getto Young at:  gettoyoung@comcast.net or 781-646-4841.
