PARENT FORUM
“When Your Kids Push Your Buttonsâ€
For parents k-12 Ottoson Cafetorium
Wednesday, December 4 7-8:30 p.m.
If you are a parent, you know what it feels like when your kids push your buttons. We often react in ways we thought we never would, ways we dislike, ways that are ineffective and ways that make us feel like terrible parents. When our buttons are pushed, we react automatically with anger and lose our authority. Nothing effective can be taught or learned in these moments. The “Buttons†workshop will help you understand what pushes your buttons, why they are pushed and give you tools to diffuse them. You can finally end the action-reaction cycle between you and your child!
PRESENTER: Danya Handelsman is a pediatric physical therapist, a certified parent coach and a parent educator. She began working with babies and small children in 1995 and now she has transitioned to working with parents. As a parent coach, Danya helps parents take a step back from the difficulty of the day-to-day struggles of parenting and helps them be intentional and mindful with parenting. She has been a board member of Gateways which provides Jewish education to children with disabilities. She lives in Newton, Mass. With her husband and three children ages 11, 9 and 7.

Cultural Enrichment News
On November 21, Jade Guerra performed her one-woman show, Harriet Tubman - Conductor of the Underground Railroad, for 5th grade students at Brackett. Using simple staging, props, costume changes, recordings and projected images, Jade brought the story of Harriet Tubman to life. Students gave the performance a “10 out of 10!†The program was fully funded by the Brackett PTO, in other words by you, Brackett parents. Thank you. – Amy Horsburgh and Kelly Hoppe (Cultural Enrichment Co-Chairs)
