NOVEMBER PTO COFFEE/TEA MEETING: Friday, Nov. 13th 8:15 a.m.-9:00 am in Cafeteria

The PTO will be hosting a morning social coffee/tea in the Brackett cafeteria on Friday morning, November 13th from 8:15 a.m.-9:00 a.m. This meeting will be a meet and greet style and we hope you can stop by early, even 5 minutes to just say hello and meet new friends.  The PTO currently does not have Co-Presidents and a few parents are helping in the interim to keep things running smoothly. We are so fortunate that our PTO has a committee based structure and those volunteers are dedicated and working hard behind the scenes to bring you monthly events.

Brackett Book Fair

We are also looking for at least 1 more parent to help take over this wonderful event.  For those of you not familiar with the Book Fair, it's a fantastic week of partnering with Book Ends in Winchester where we turn the Brackett Library into a book store!  The students all buy books during their library times at school and we hold a parent shopping night during that week as well.  The Fair is scheduled for the week of Nov. 16th, with the shopping night scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 19. If you would like to learn more, please contact me at:  gettoyoung@comcast.net or call me at 781-646-4841.  Thanks for your interest and support!  Christie Getto Young

School Picture Retake Day – 11/19/15

Does Your Child Need a School Picture Retake? Did Your Child Miss Picture Day (9/28)?

On Thursday, November 19th a photographer from Coffee Pond Photography will return to Brackett Elementary School for School Picture Retake Day. These pictures will be taken indoors.

If your child needs a retake, please send the original package of photos (all photos from your first package, except the class photo) back to your child's teacher on or before November 19th. The photographer will collect the packages.

If your child was absent on Picture Day (9/28), please send Karen O’Hagan an email at kae.ohagan@gmail.com with your child's name, grade, and teacher. With advance notice, we will make sure that he/she is photographed on November 19th. You can still order photos online atwww.coffeepond.com.

Announcements from Friends of the Brackett Library

Save the Date – Brackett Library Shelving Party – SUNDAY 11/15 from 12-4

The Brackett Library is in need of many hands to help organize and clean the shelves, which will make our wonderful collection of books easier to find and put away. Please join the Friends of Brackett Library on the afternoon of Sunday, November 15 to help us organize the books on the shelves, clean shelves, and put away books in the correct places! This will be an open house style event, so if you can stop by for even a short time it will be helpful. Contact Carrie Finison (carriefinison@mac.com781-645-8704) or Luchy Roa (luchyroa@yahoo.com) for more information.

Ways to Donate Books to Brackett Library
• Have books you don't want anymore? Consider giving them to the library. Early chapter books and graphic novels in particular are always needed as they do not last long.
• When you bring book donations to the Book Rack on Medford Street in Arlington, you can donate your credit to the library. Just tell them you want the credit to go towards the Brackett School and it will be put to good use.
• Stay tuned for the return of the popular Book Donation program – donate a favorite book in your child’s or family’s name!

Halloween Candy Buy Back at Arlington Orthodontics - Support the Brackett PTO!

Looking for a great way to get rid of some of your kids candy?

This Friday, November 5th (9:00-5:00pm) and Saturday, November 6th (8:00-2:00pm) bring your candy to Arlington Orthodontics located at 800 Mass Ave and earn $2 for every pound of candy you bring in. The best part is they will be matching your earnings up to $10 as a fundraiser for the Brackett PTO. All of the candy collected will be sent overseas to our troops through Operation Gratitude www.operationgratitude.com

Brackett Thanksgiving Food Drive
Once again, Brackett will be running a Thanksgiving Food Drive to provide Thanksgiving food and food staples to Arlington families in need. Bins will be placed in the front hall next week (11/9) and flyers will also go out with food suggestions for each grade. The drive will end on November 19th.

This is a great way to start off the Holiday Season of giving and we especially appreciate the incredible generosity of the Brackett community!
