Green Team Gets Crafty Today, 2:30pm

The Brackett Green Team meets today (Thursday, December 13th) from 2:30-3:30pm in the art room. We will enjoy creating some winter-themed recycled crafts together and share ideas for topics to explore in the new year. If you haven’t had a chance to check out our display board about food waste and food rescue, please do! It will be in the school front lobby until the winter break.

For more information about the Brackett Green Team, please contact GIG (Green Initiatives Group) co-chairs:
Rachel Oliveri (rachelboliveri@gmail.com) and Hilary Graham (hilgraham@aol.com).
Tonight: Book Sponsorship Program Table, 15 Great Additions to the Library So Far!

Stop by our Book Sponsorship Table in the Lobby tonight, 6-8pm, during Parent Teacher Conferences.  View our 'highly wished for' by our Brackett Library, and if you would like to Sponsor one for our library (Each book costs $20), and you can personalize a bookplate sticker dedicating the book in honor of a child, family member, or friend!  Kids love seeing their name in a book and it's a great way to support our Library.

If you can't make it to a table time, but would still like to sponsor a book for our library, please email Anne at anne241618@gmail.com.

Thank you,
Anne Chen and the PTO Book Fair and FoBL Committees
Make a Gift Before Winter Break - Support the Brackett School Annual Appeal

Winter Break is only a week and a half away! Before then, please consider making a gift to support the Brackett School Annual Appeal.

Your gifts make it possible for our children to enjoy field trips and enrichment activities, and for us to support our teachers and the classroom experience at school! If you have already made a gift, thank you for your generosity! You can make a gift via paypal by visiting the Brackett School website: http://brackettelementary.org/ and clicking "DONATE" on the left-hand side.

Thank you!,  The Brackett PTO

Winter Auction Planning Underway: Items Needed!

Last year was the first year of the Brackett Elementary School Winter Auction and we raised over $11,000 for our school! With those funds we were able to install a climbing wall in the gym and support the remodel of our school library.

The money we raise this year will be used to improve outdoor playground space and lay the groundwork for an outdoor classroom. Additionally, the PTO is establishing grade-level teacher grants to enhance classrooms and curriculum in new and creative ways.
Once again, we hope to harness the energy of the Brackett community to create a fun and diverse list of auction items!

We’re seeking items big and small, tangible objects, professional services, and especially some unique (priceless!) experiences. Would you (or your family or friends) consider donating any of the following?
  • Professional services (landscape, architecture/design, painting, contractor, organizer,  fitness class, photography, web design, graphic design)
  • Food and beverage (restaurant gift certificates, private food/beverage tours or tastings, personal chef, baker, cooking classes, wine, chef’s table dining experience)
  • Gift certificates to local businesses
  • Sports (signed memorabilia, tickets to the Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins, or Celtics, or any other sporting events)
  • Tickets (Boston Ballet, Boston Symphony Orchestra, concerts, plays, shows)
  • Vacation homes (Spring Break, a long weekend, a summer week, timeshares)
  • Artwork
  • Teach a class to children or adults (art, cooking, sewing, gardening, bike maintenance)
To donate an item or suggest a donation idea, please submit the form at the following link:https://goo.gl/forms/a6yflYFuVJLu7cMH2

The auction will go live at the end of January so please contact us with all donation ideas by December 31st. The value of your donation is tax deductible.  Thank you for helping to make the Brackett Winter Auction fundraiser a success!

Sincerely,
Brackett Auction Committee (http://Brackettauction@gmail.com)

Holiday Helper Wraps Up Another Successful Year!

Thank you to everyone who so generously donated to the Holiday Helper program this year! As a school, we fulfilled the wish lists of 21 Arlington kids who would otherwise go without gifts this holiday season.

Your kindness was overwhelming! You donated 190 gifts. Plus gift cards, gift bags and boxes, and even tickets to Disney on Ice. In addition, we were able to give each of our 10 "adopted" families at least $100 in gift cards to Stop & Shop/Trader Joe's so they can enjoy a special holiday meal.

A special thank you to our 5th graders who helped carry and sort gifts and to the Holiday Helper parent "elves" who delivered the gifts this week.

You went above and beyond to help people in our community and we can't thank you enough.
Nurse Diane's Note for Fourth Grade Families

The state requires that we keep on file a copy of a recent physical exam from all fourth graders.  If you have sent one in already, Thank You, if not please send one in ASAP.  If you have a physical exam scheduled for the spring please call me and let me know.  Not sure if you sent one in?  Call me and I’ll let you know!

Thank You, Nurse Diane Vergnani,  781-316-3701
December Character Trait: Cooperation

In November, more than 300 students earned charms for completing and returning their RESPECT Bingo Boards.  December's character trait is Cooperation.  Both bingo boards and a parent information sheet will be sent home in backpacks this week. Please encourage your child to participate this month.

5th Grade Math Mornings - This Monday, December 18th!

Does your child love math? Are they excited to learn more? Then join us for Math Mornings every Monday! We will meet in Ms. Lowe's room at 7:30 AM (and we will provide morning treats). Math mornings provide enrichment to our kids and help them to build problem-solving skills. Parents are welcome to attend (we appreciate the help!).

Let Swati Kukade (kukades@gmail.com) know if you have questions!
