Green Team Meets T oday, and needs your help for STEM Night
Green Team this Thursday!
Green Team meets this Thursday, March 15th from 2:30-3:30pm in the Art Room. We will finish our Trashformations project for Ecofest and get ready for STEM Night.
Green Initiatives Group Needs Your Help at STEM Night!
At STEM Night (this Friday, March 16th!) the Green Initiatives Group/Green Team will have a wind energy activity in the Music Room and will be overseeing the sorting station in the cafeteria. If you and/or your child would like to help us run our activities at STEM Night, even for just a 20 minute shift, please sign up here. You can note in the comments section if it’s you or your child or both who is volunteering:
http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0a4dacac2fa64-stem
We are also in need of extra cardboard, thick paper, cereal boxes, empty plastic containers (that can be cut fairly easily and safely) for our STEM Night activity. If you have any of these materials to offer, please drop them by the Art Room this Thursday after school when Green Team is meeting OR you can bring them to our table in the Music Room on STEM Night.
Thank you!
Rachel & Hilary

Brackett's Read-a-Thon is Live!
Brackett's Read-a-thon is live! Here are a few helpful hints to get started:
1. Each child needs to set up their own on-line reading log with a "secret code". This information went home in the Read-a-thon packets last week. If your packet has been misplaced, please email brackettreadathon@gmail.com with your child's name and we can retrieve the codes for you.
2. If you are asking friends/family to sponsor your child's reading, you can send emails to those individuals directly from your child's Read-a-thon page OR by sending this link https://www.read-a-thon.com/school/Brackett-PTO_19528 and asking sponsors to search for your child's name.
3. You can log in to the read-a-thon page by clicking HERE.
Thanks again for your support! Now let's get reading!

PTO Open Meeting - March 20th, 6:30pm
The Brackett Community is so fortunate to have wonderful programs to offer our students to enrich their learning experience. Activities like STEM Night, Culture & Creativity Night, Movie Nights, The June Fair, The Art Show, the Green Initiatives Group, Cultural Enrichment and so many countless others can't happen without volunteer support.

Please plan to join us for our next PTO Meeting, open to any interested parents, on Tuesday, March 20th at 6:30pm in the cafeteria. Hear about what all of our committees are planning, and how you can get involved (even in just a small capacity) to make a difference for our children.
The Community Art Show is Friday, May 4th. We've got some amazing parent volunteers who have already signed up to make promotional materials, hang art, and handle most aspects of the art show. But we need two parents to oversee the volunteers. You do NOT need to have any artistic abilities just a desire to help. You can do most of the job from home, just sending emails to coordinate folks. It's a great group of people. Come be a part of it!
The June Fair is in early June and we're looking for co-chairs and a committee of parents to make this fun event a reality! Time honored games and crafts practically run themselves. We just need some parents to oversee the event. The June Fair is a highlight of the year. We promise you'll have a lot of fun, too.
Please email Catherine Fenollosa cfenollosa@gmail.com or Wendy Buglio wbuglio@gmail.com for more info or to volunteer.

Calling Brackett 5th Graders for a Trivia Bee Team
http://www.arlingtoneducationfoundationma.org/wp/triviabee
On March 25th, from 3-5pm Arlington’s Town Hall will be abuzz with the friendly yet fierce team-based competition of the Arlington Trivia Bee. Live music, kids’ activities and the opportunity for audience participation help create the lively, family-friendly atmosphere that defines this annual town-wide event.
Just like last year, the 2018 Trivia Bee will include teams of fifth graders from each elementary school who will compete in their own round to kick off the afternoon’s event. Brackett needs to form a team! Please form a 3-student team and have the honor of representing our school. Trivia questions will cover pop culture, Arlington facts and more. Parents may register their fifth graders by emailing Glendalys Gandhi at glendalys@gmail.com.
