Green Team gets off to an energetic start!
Our Green Team program on Friday, February 27 was a great success! With thirteen children in attendance, the room was full of energy, human- and wind-generated!
We were all impressed by the children’s creative design and engineering skills and no two windmills were alike. We now have a colorful windmill farm to submit for the Trashformations exhibit at Arlington's EcoFest.
Huge thanks to Heide Frank and Luchy Roa who planned and facilitated the event, complete with impressive windmills of their own--one which powered a small light and one which lifted a container via a pulley system.
To see the Brackett Green Team’s windmill farm on the Town Hall stage, join in the fun and festivities at Arlington's EcoFest this Saturday, March 7th, from 10am-2pm.

We are also looking for one or two volunteers to run the March Green Team program. It is scheduled for Friday, March 27th, after school (2:30-3:30pm). Please contact me if you are interested and I'm happy to help you with your idea!

Math at Ottoson Middle School
On Wednesday, March 11th, the Director of Mathematics will present about the transition to Ottoson Middle School specific to the mathematics department. The primary audience of the event is families that have children entering 6th grade during the 2015-2016 school year. All are welcome though.
Topics will include:
- Bypassing Math 6 for extreme high achievers. The structure and timeline for this opportunity will be outlined.
- The Math Support Intervention Program for grades 6-8.
- Digital Media and Literacy, a computer programming based class for 6th graders.
- Pathways and courses for grades 6-12. Basically, planning ahead and learning about 6-12 mathematics in the Arlington Public Schools.
The majority of the event will cover the first two topics as this event will have a transitional focus. The event will be held at Ottoson Middle School in the cafeteria from 78:30.
