We're Close to Reaching Our Goal Thanks to Your Help
This year the PTO's goal is to raise $10,000. Thanks to many generous Brackett families we are very close to meeting our goal.
Thank you so much to the 89 families who have contributed. Every dollar makes a difference! We are so close to reaching our goal to pay for our students' academic enrichment, field trips and much needed items for our classrooms. The PTO spends approximately $60 per student so a donation of any size is a great help.
We have now raised $8,120 and we are almost there but we still need help.
We are so grateful for your generosity and support!

Important BASP Registration Information for 2013-14
Registration for the Brackett After-School Program for the 2013-14 school year opens on April 1. Registration forms will be due on or before April 24. Currently enrolled or wait-listed BASP families will receive a registration packet via email; anyone else who would like to request a registration form should contact Kimberly Burnett at basp.enroll@gmail.com. Registration forms can also be picked up in Room 111 starting April 1.
*All* families interested in a space in BASP for the 2013-14 school year must complete a registration form -- to join or retain a space on the wait list, or to retain a space in the program.
We expect to assign spaces in the after-school program by May 31, 2013, and each child's status for the fall (on the wait list or enrolled) will be emailed to registrants. Families should be aware that the wait list is very lengthy, and it typically takes 18-24 months for a child to get a spot in the program, so please plan accordingly.

The 3rd Grade Colonial Days Celebration is right around the corner!
This year we will be changing it up a bit and instead of the traditional two day event that has been done in the past, we will be doing an evening event and one full day of activities.

Colonial Dinner and Dancing event
Live music, food and dancing!
Friday, May 31st
8am-2pm at the Brackett School
Our 3rd graders will dress up in traditional colonial clothes and participate in a variety of colonial period activities for a full day of fun!
After our first meeting we have some wonderful ideas but can't make them happen without your help. Descriptions of the current activities planned are on the sign up. Please sign up for whatever sounds most interesting to you. Since this is a large event we will need everyone to pitch in where they can to make this a special event for the kids.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR - There will be a meeting on Wednesday, April 10th from 6:30 - 7:30 to start planning the details of each activity.

Way to go Green Team!
Congratulations to members of the Brackett Green Team who worked hard to transform lunchroom leftovers of cleaned recyclables into a rhinoceros. Why a rhinoceros? Because the weight of a nature African rhinoceros is equivalent to the weight that our recycling and composting efforts will have saved over the course of a school year from being trucked to the incinerator: 6 tons or 12,000 pounds!!!
The Green Team members, who named their rhino "Recycla-Russ" , were one of five winners at Arlington's Annual EcoFest on Saturday, March 23rd, at Arlington Town Hall. The Green Team was awarded a gift certificate from the Book Rack along with a certificate for their participation.
Want to be a parat of the fun and learning with the Green Team? Contact us at gig.brackett@gmail.com
