THANK YOU for the Generous Food Drive Donations!

Many thanks to all of the families and students who contributed to Brackett's Spring Food Drive.  We collected several bins full of cereal, soups, meal kits, and other vital food items, in addition to toiletries, all benefiting families in our local community.  To find out more about this great organization or to volunteer: http://www.arlingtonma.gov/departments/health-human-services/food-pantry

Thank you again for your generosity!

Textile Recovery Challenge a Success!

Thank you to all the students and families who participated in the Textile Recovery Challenge. Brackett collected an impressive amount of textiles (overflowing bin pictured)! The final weight comparison for the competition and prize winner will be announced the week of April 10th, after all schools have completed their challenge weeks.

For those who missed the collection or still have more to contribute, you can drop off textiles any time to the Good Will truck in the Stop and Shop parking lot, the Planet Aid bins (across from Trader Joe’s) or to any of the collection bins around town (e.g., Second Chances bin in the Whole Foods parking lot, Red Cross bins, etc). All of these places sort out the items between those in nicer condition that are given to families in need and those old, torn, stained items that are recycled/sold wholesale which, in turn support the work of these organizations.
Welcome Brackett's new after school club, the Rainbow Alliance for 4th and 5th graders

All 4th and 5th grade students are invited to join Brackett's new after school club, the Rainbow Alliance! Each weekly club meeting will focus on a different topic through age- and developmentally- appropriate art projects, discussions, and group activities. Topics will include vocabulary, LGBTQ+ representation in the media and in sports, diverse family structures and history. It is never too early to learn about our diverse community while making some new friends. So, join in the fun at the fabulous Rainbow Alliance!
Brackett 3rd Grade Parents are excited for Colonial Day, Friday, June 9th!

Mark your calendars for Brackett's 3rd Grade Colonial Day, Friday, June 9th.  The Third Grade parents are already hard at work to bring this immersive, hands-on program to life.  Colonial Day gives students the opportunity to dress, study, work, play and eat as if they are living in colonial times.  Students will attend a one-room schoolhouse, dip candles, learn a colonial dance, churn butter and more.   They will wear colonial clothing and eat colonial food.  Colonial Day is educational and a ton of fun!

Many parent volunteers are needed to pull off Colonial Day, if you are a 3rd grade parent or interested in helping out with this great event, please visit our sign-up:  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0a45abad2caa8-3rdgrade1
