5th Grade Parents: Send in your photos for 5th Grade Yearbook and Slideshow by April 24th!
In the 5th grade yearbook, each child will have their own page that includes some questions and two photos. One of the photos is a Kindergarten picture (or younger photo if you don't have a Kindergarten pic) and the other is a 5th grade picture. Both should be clear shots of his/her face and with no one else in the photo. Here's how you to send them in:
· Find two high-resolution photos in JPG or TIF format - one current photo and one from age 0-5 years
· Save the files with the teacher's name, your child's name, and "K" for the Kindergarten photo and "5th" for the other (for example: "Lowe - Gemma Conway 5th.jpg")
· We'll expect a total of two photos per 5th grader
· Email photos to Andrew Conway at ahconway@gmail.com with your child's name in the subject line
We'd also like photos of your child and his or her classmates at a school events/field trips (i.e. science camp, colonial days, etc) from each year they've been at Brackett:
· Find up to 25 high-resolution photos in JPG or TIF format per grade
· Use descriptive names with grade, event, your own last name, and the number of the photo
· Example 1: "5th grade - Science Camp - Kapner 19.jpg" for a photo from Science Camp by Kimberly Kapner - showing that this her 19th photo submitted for 5th grade
· Example 2: " K - Beach - Kapner 20.jpg" for a photo from the Kindergarten beach trip by Kimberly Kapner - showing that this is her 3rd photo submitted for Kindergarten
· Please note that these should should be your best photos, and they should all be unique
· You can send up to 10 photos to Andrew Conway at ahconway@gmail.com with your child's name in the subject line
· To share more photos, email Andrew to request access to the project Drop Box (no more than 25 photos per grade per parent)
Please submit photos by April 24th!

Tickets are $15.00 on line. Several Brackett students are in the Sound of Music production!
The final collaboration between Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein II, The Sound of Music, has become a play beloved around the world. Based on the true story of the Von Trapp Family Singers, this play captures a personal tale of growth and hope amidst the horrors of World War II. The Sound of Music tells the tale of young postulant Maria Rainer, whose free spirit has trouble fitting into the rules and regulations of Nonnberg Abbey. Commissioned by the Mother Abbess to serve as the governess for seven motherless children, Maria transforms the Von Trapp family home from a place of dour rules and regulations to one filled with joy, with laughter, and with music and in the process, wins the hearts of all seven children -- and their widower father, Captain Von Trapp. With the Mother Abbess' blessing, and to the children's delight, Maria follows her heart, and Maria and the Captain marry. Upon returning home from their honeymoon, Maria and the Captain learn that their beloved Austria has been taken over by the Nazis, and the whole family is forced to flee over the Alps to escape.

Arlington Boys and Girls Club Spring Book Drive
The Arlington Boys & Girls Club is organizing a Spring Book Drive to improve the book selection throughout the Club. This spring the Annual Meeting theme will focus on books and how each child visiting the Club has their own story. All donated books will then become centerpieces at the 77th Annual Meeting & Dinner taking place on Tuesday, May 5th at the Boston Marriott Burlington. After the event, the books will be distributed throughout program areas for children to enjoy. Last summer we had quite the group of summer readers and we hope to continue to provide children this opportunity. Our goal is to have 100 books donated by April 24th.
In order to make this year's Book Drive a community success, the ABGC has partnered with Mike Buglio, owner of The Book Rack located at 13 Medford Street. The Book Rack is Arlington's community bookseller and has been in Mike's family since 1975. Mike has a 4-year-old son (currently enrolled in the Turtle swim class at the club) and resides in Arlington. Arlington Center is very lucky to have this special bookstore and we encourage you to shop local.
The Book Rack will provide discounted prices on all books to help your dollars go further! The Book Rack is staffed by dedicated staff that love to help find the perfect book - whether you are shopping for yourself, buying a gift or helping the ABGC. So please, shop local and visit The Book Rack, located next to the Regent Theatre.
