Greetings *|FNAME|*!

PTO Co-Presidents for 2013-14 school year elected!

Dear Brackett Community,

It is with great pleasure that we announce your new Brackett PTO Co-Presidents for the 2013-2014 school year, Ryan Rosenstein and Jeannie Bowler Ryerson . A vote was taken at the May 15th PTO meeting and the team was unanimously approved.

Ryan and Jeannie have been active PTO volunteers. Ryan's outstanding leadership in planning and organizing the Brackett June Fair for the last two years and serving as a room parent has been invaluable. Jeannie's energy and skill as an event volunteer for the Art Cafe and Colonial Day have been tremendously helpful. Some families may also know Jeannie as "Cookie Mom" as she is also a key volunteer for one of the brownie troops at Brackett.

Ryan has an incoming kindergartener and a first grader and Jeannie has a third grader at Brackett this year.  We are excited to have such an energetic and hard working team in place for next year.

We will continue to serve in our roles and work collaboratively with Ryan and Jeannie until September to ensure a seamless transition.

Thank you for your support. We are fortunate to have such a wonderful community,
Susan and Alison
June Fair 2013 - Saturday, June 8th  10am-2pm

We need your help!

If you haven't had the chance to volunteer for an event this year and would like to help out, here's your chance! The annual Brackett School June Fair is coming up on Saturday, June 8th from 10am - 2pm and is the largest fundraiser of the year for the PTO. This event requires a tremendous amount of man, woman and kid power to pull it off. We know this is a really busy time of year and finding a spare hour on the weekend is tough. We really appreciate any time you can give to this wonderful community event. Please follow the links below and sign up!

June Fair - Electronics Recycling Updated Info!

There will be an Electronics Recycling Drive on the day of the fair. Bring your computer monitors, laptops, air conditioners, televisions, computers, and other used electronic items – anything with a battery or a cord. The items will be recycled in a responsible manner. The fees are $10 per item (or a small box of miscellaneous items like keyboards, mice, and cables), with the exception of TVs, which are $20. Everyone is welcome: spread the word to your friend, neighbor, or employer.
Attention 3rd Grade Parents!
There are TWO Sign Ups going around for Colonial Day Activities - one for activities
on the day (5/31), and one relating to the Colonial Day Dinner/Dance the night before (5/30).

We just added "Corn Husk Dolls" to the "Day Of" activities,
so that team could use a few volunteers, and there are still a few other slots remaining.

"Day Of" sign up:

Jeepers Peepers!

First graders will be watching chicken eggs hatch in their classrooms the week of May 20th.   The STEM committee/PTO contributes this enrichment which coincides with the first graders' unit on chick development.  Incubators with eggs will be brought into each classroom on Monday, May 20th; the eggs will hatch midweek; and the chicks will be in the classrooms through Friday, May 24th.
The eggs were donated by the Charles River Lab and the chicks are White Leghorns- a cold hardy, excellent egglaying breed.  All chicks will be available for "adoption".  Please contact Janet Westerhoff jbwesty@gmail.com if interested in raising any of these chickens.
