Meet ups at Robbins Farm Park
Sunday, August 25, 1:00 p.m.
Wednesday, August 28, 5:00 p.m.
The Brackett PTO would like to invite incoming kindergarteners and their families to come and connect with their future classmates before the first day of school. This is a low-key opportunity to meet other members of the Brackett kindergarten community — there will be bubbles, coloring pages, and plenty of room to run around and have fun!
We will plan to meet on the grassy fields on top of the hill!
Kindergarten Frequently Asked Questions
Where/When is Kindergarten Pick-up/Drop-off?
Kindergarteners are dropped off and picked up directly from their classroom’s exterior door on Fayette Street.
School starts Monday-Friday at 8:00 a.m.
Pick-up (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday) at 2:30 p.m.
Early-release every Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.
How will my child get to their after-school activities?
All after-school programs pick up kindergarten students at their classroom at the end of the day.
Where are Kindergarten bathrooms and cubbies/lockers?
Each Kindergarten classroom is equipped with its own private bathroom. Students are each assigned their own in-classroom cubby to store their coats, backpacks, and belongings.
How does Lunch/Breakfast/Snack work?
School Meals are Free for All Students!
All three Kindergarten classes eat lunch together in the cafeteria and also share a recess. This is a great opportunity for your child to meet other students in their grade outside of their individual classroom. Students can get a school-provided lunch in the cafeteria or bring their own from home.
Breakfast is available in the Brackett cafeteria every day at 7:30 a.m. No reservation is necessary. After breakfast is over, kindergartners are walked to their classrooms.
Students should bring a snack to school every day. If your child forgets or needs a snack, snacks are available for all students in the front office via the PTO’s Snack Ambassador program.
Each student is given a unique four-digit lunch code that will be theirs for their entire Brackett career. Students who choose to get a school-provided lunch/breakfast will enter their code on the lunchroom keypad when they receive their meal. Kindergartners will be walked through how to enter their code at the beginning of the year and will have opportunities to practice at school. In addition, staff are available in the cafeteria to help students with entering their code. Your child’s lunch code will be sent home via a flyer in their take-home folder at the beginning of the year.
What do I do if my child is sick, absent, or will be late to school?
If your child is going to be absent from school due to illness (or any reason), please email Brackett Safe Arrival at brackettsafearrival@arlington.k12.ma.us or call and leave a message on the Brackett Safe Arrival line (781-316-3716).
Brackett Safe Arrival should also be used to report if your child will be late to school (e.g. has an appointment in the morning and won’t arrive until afternoon).
Where is the Lost and Found?
The Lost and Found is located in the Brackett Cafeteria.
The PTO takes pictures of items in the Lost and Found and post them here. Please label all of your child’s belongings — the PTO Lost and Found volunteers do their best to email caregivers if we know which student an item belongs to!
Need labels? If you purchase labels through Mabel’s Labels (search “Brackett Elementary School” on the fundraising page), you get free shipping and 20% is donated back to the PTO.
Where can I get information about upcoming Brackett community activities?
The PTO sponsors many activities during the school year. For more information on upcoming events, checkout the Brackett News section on brackettpto.org.
The official Arlington Public Schools Brackett calendar can be found here.
How can I get involved at Brackett?
The Brackett PTO is always looking for more volunteers to help support the Brackett community! Find out all about our volunteer opportunities here.
When is Picture Day?
The PTO organizes a school-wide Picture Day — the 2024-2025 Picture Day will take place on October 4, 2024.
Information will go out to all parents in mid-September via their student’s take-home folder (check your child’s backpack!), Photo packages will be available for purchase; every student will get a class picture free of cost.
