How Does the Read-A-Thon Work?

Read-A-Thon is a fun opportunity that gets our students excited about reading while raising money to fund our Brackett PTO and the support and enrichment activities it provides.

Students can set reading goals on our new fundraising platform, 99 Pledges, and solicit pledges for their reading from family and friends around the world using their own personal fundraising page.

99 Pledges Read-A-Thon Guide

Open the 99 Pledges Brackett Read-A-Thon page.

FIND your student’s Read-A-Thon page. Type in their first name and identify them by their teacher. Click their name from the drop-down menu to see their personal fundraising page.

PERSONALIZE your fundraising page! Your student’s page has its own unique URL, and you can personalize it by adding a picture.

SHARE! Use the social links to post and share with friends, family, and neighbors. Ask them to support your reader and Brackett. Read-A-Thon is one of the PTO’s largest sources of funding each year and supports the growth and social skills of every Brackett student.

If your student’s name is NOT in the drop-down, you can still enroll! (The PTO didn’t have your contact information to pre-load) Scroll to the bottom of that page where you will see very small text that says “Not a participant? Add Participant”. Please click that, select their teacher (team) and enter their name. You will get an email confirmation.

Reading of All Kinds Counts

Whether it’s reading in-class reading, magazines, picture books, graphic novels, chapter books, listening to audiobooks, or even being read to – these are all important forms of reading for our students.

Digital Reading Log

Students record daily minutes read and vote for the principals’ costumes using the new Digital Reading Log!

Remind students to record reading minutes & cast votes by Monday, March 10 to be included in the school wide reading total!

Bookmark

Ask your student to show you their Read-A-Thon Bookmark! This bookmark is a place for them to record daily minutes as they read, and it includes a QR code to our digital Reading Log and the Brackett Read-A-Thon fundraising page.

Read-A-Thon READ (BINGO)

New for 2025!  Add some flair to your reading — check out the Read-A-Thon READ game sheet sent home with your student.  Remind your student they can use stickers or check off each square as they accomplish each fun reading challenge! If you would like additional copies, find the READ sheet here.

School Wide Goals & Prizes

Brackett students will work together to try to reach a school wide goal of reading a total of 200,000 minutes! If they reach this goal, students will earn a schoolwide prize of extra recess, in addition to seeing Dr. Vice & Mr. Vanderlaine-Amaral wear inflatable costumes! Students can record reading minutes and vote on which costume they want to see their principals wear in the Digital Reading Log.

Thank You Brackett Community!
