Get ready for one of Brackett’s favorite traditions—two weeks packed with reading, creativity, and school spirit!
Our Read-A-Thon and Literacy Week celebrate the joy of reading while also serving as one of the Brackett PTO’s largest fundraisers of the year.
Together, our community reads, gives, and supports the programs and experiences that make Brackett such a special place to learn.
Ask your student to show you their Read-A-Thon Bookmark! Their bookmark is a place for them to record daily minutes as they read, and it includes a QR code to our Read-A-Thon page.
During the Read-A-Thon, students are encouraged to read as much as they can—at home, at school, independently, or with family—and log every minute they read.
While reading is at the heart of the event, the Read-A-Thon is also a critical fundraiser that helps power PTO-supported programs throughout the year.
Families will use our Read-A-Thon website, powered by Booster to:
- Register their reader(s)
- Track reading minutes
- Share reading goals
- Invite friends and family to sponsor their reader and help raise funds

Families are encouraged to share their reader’s page with friends and family near and far—whether they live down the street or around the world. Every shared page, every donation, and every minute read helps move us toward our goal.
Schoolwide Reading Progress
Goal: 200,000 minutes
📚 Our big reading goal this year is 200,000 minutes.
If we reach it: Every student earns a prize The whole school celebrates with a one song, hallway dance party at the end of the day!
Throughout the Read-A-Thon, students will also have the chance to vote on the hallway dance party song, so every minute read helps shape the celebration and keeps the momentum going.
💰 Fundraising Goal: $20,000.
The Read-A-Thon is the PTO’s second-largest fundraiser of the year, with a school-wide fundraising goal of $20,000.
Reaching this goal helps ensure the PTO can continue to fund important programs and experiences that benefit every Brackett student.

What do funds raised support?
- Fully funded field trips for all students, totalling $20K a year
- Arts, cultural, and educational programming like author visits and STEM Night
- Community-building activities such as Fall Fest, June Fair and Culture & Creativity Night
- Teacher and staff appreciation and gifts throughout the year
- $10,000 in faculty stipends for supplemental instructional materials
Every contribution—big or small—makes a meaningful impact.
Literacy Week: March 16 – 20
Right in the middle of the Read-A-Thon, we’ll turn up the fun with Literacy Week, a beloved Brackett tradition filled with themed days that celebrate reading and school spirit:
Monday, March 16 – Read Your Shirt Day
Wear clothing with words
Tuesday, March 17 – Teachers Swap Classrooms
Teachers switch classrooms to surprise students with a new reading experience.
Wednesday, March 18 – Read to a Stuffy
Bring a favorite stuffed animal to school to read with during independent reading time.
Thursday, March 19 – Drop Everything & Read
At a special time, the entire school pauses to read together.
Friday, March 20 – Dress Like Book Heroes & Villains
Come dressed as your favorite book heroes and villains.
