The Brackett Read-a-Thon is taking place February 24 – March 10!
Read-a-Thon is a fun opportunity that gets our students excited about reading while raising money to fund our Brackett PTO and the support and enrichment activities it provides.
Students can set reading goals on our new fundraising platform, 99 Pledges, and solicit pledges for their reading from family and friends around the world using their own personal fundraising page.
Reading of all kind counts — in-class reading, magazines, picture books, graphic novels, chapter books, audiobook, and even being read to counts! Students can log their minutes via our Digital Reading Log — we’re working together as a school to reach our goal of 200,000 minutes read.
If students reach this goal, students will earn a school-wide prize of extra recess, in addition to seeing Dr. Vice & Mr. Vanderlaine-Amaral wear inflatable costumes! Students can vote on which costume they want to see their principals wear in the Digital Reading Log when they log their minutes.
This year, we’re adding some flair to our reading with our new READ Game. Students they can use stickers or check off each square as they accomplish each fun reading challenge!
On March 3-7, during the second week of Read-A-Thon, we will be having Literacy Week, which will be filled with activities to celebrate students reading in and out of school.
- Monday, March 3: Read to a Furry Friend
- Tuesday, March 4: Read My Shirt Day
- Wednesday, March 5: Hats Off to Reading
- Thursday, March 6: Comfy Cozy Reading Day
- Friday, March 7: Dress as Your Favorite Book Character
